Troubleshooting: Empty Server Response in Send to AI Action

Issue Description

When reviewing Enrollment History in HubSpot workflows, users may occasionally see the Send to AI action displaying:

Server response

The response body for this request was empty

Root Cause

This is a known display issue within HubSpot's workflow interface. The error message appears even when the AI model has successfully processed the request and generated a response. The issue is cosmetic and does not indicate that the AI action failed.

Verification Method

To confirm that your Send to AI action is working correctly despite this display issue:

  1. Add a test action immediately after your Send to AI step
  2. Use the AI response as input for this test action
  3. Choose any of these follow-up actions:
    • Create a Note
    • Create a Task
    • Send internal email/message
    • Send message to Slack
    • Copy property value to another field

Example Workflow Setup

1. Send to AI (your main prompt)

2. Create Note (use as note content)

If the follow-up action successfully generates Notes/Task/Slack message/Updates the property etc... the AI-generated content, then your Send to AI action is functioning properly despite the empty server response message in the enrollment history.

Status

This is a known HubSpot platform issue affecting the workflow enrollment history display. The AI Studio team is working with HubSpot to resolve this visual bug, but it does not impact the actual functionality of AI actions.
